The St. Thomas STEM Inclusive Excellence program trains and supports advisors to use inclusive advising practices, with the goal of building capacity for inclusion of students belonging to underrepresented groups in STEM. Now in the third year of this program (funded by a five-year grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute), we’ll share our strategy for building mentoring relationships into the faculty advising model and addressing the hidden curriculum of higher education with students. We invite participants to participate in activities that foment inclusion in their spaces, sharing in small groups and with the large group.
